Yes, a fibroid could be causing your symptoms. There are several
mechanisms to explain how it might be casuing pain --1) it could be on a
stalk, protruding from the uterus and intermittenltly twisting (we call
this "torsion") 2) it could be outgrowing it's blood supply and dying
off in the middle ("necrosing" or "degenerating") or 3) it could be
putting pressure on your bowels. An ovarian cyst or scar tissue are 2
other gyn possibilities.
Your doctor will be able to give you more information after teh
ultrasound.
