Marchbein, M.D.: "Re: Breakthrough Bleeding" I have been on the pill-of various kinds for about 8 years. In the past year, I have been experiencing breakthrough bleeding mid- cycle , the brownish kind ranging from slight to medium in amount. I have been switching pills and waiting 3-4 months to see results to no avail. The breakthrough occurs EXACTLY the same time every month, at 14 days after I begin a new pack, lasting 4-5 days. Also, my period doesnt begin for about 3 days into the "nothing pills" and doesnt end until the middle of the following week when I am taking the hormone pills.
