endometrial hyperplasiaFrom: Cristi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 19 Jan 1998 17:16:50 -0600 (CST)
I have been undergoing an infertility workup for 2.5 years. I am 35 years of age. My hysteroscopy and laproscopy showed lots of polyps in the uterus but no endometriosis. Subsequent biopsy showed endometrial hyperplasia (simple with no atypia). I am being treated with megastrol for 12 weeks followed by rebiopsy. My doctor says I will need to be in a treatment mode or actively getting pregnant mode from now on, with no in between. Can this condition cause infertility? If so, how, and will treatment increase the likelihood of pregnancy? Also, if this condition is not treated, can it progress to the complex, atypia version with its subsequent risk of cancer? Will achieving a pregnancy reduce the chance of this condition reoccuring? Thank you.
