I too am a DES daughter and have an incompetent cervix. I am not a medical person but have never heard of using a diaphragm to support the cervix. I do know that there is risk of infection with a cerclage. Whenever you introduce a foreign body(in this case, the stitch) there is a possiblity of infection. How I understand it- effaced is the thinning of the cervix, so are you dilated also? Being dilated will increase infection too. My first preg. I started dilating at 23 weeks and was 4cm at 30. By luck I made it to 36 weeks. This preg. I had a cerclage put in at 12 weeks. I am currently in my 19th week and so far so good. I am getting internal sonograms done every 3 weeks to check the cervix. How often had you been getting checked? Is 3 weeks apart too much? Good luck to you. Hope
