Hysterectomy? My experience.

Hi everyone! I have been reading posts referring to the aftermath of hysterectomy and feel compelled to add my "two cents worth". I had my surgery (TAH/BSO) 7 months ago after a long stretch of intolerable suffering from endometriosis. Since then, I feel better than I have in many years (I am 42). My energy level is where it was 10 years ago. I have no problem sexually - I do not have to worry about pregnancy or messing around with birth control methods. What a relief! Also, I have to add that removal of ovaries and uterus should not eliminate orgasm. It may result in less intensity (as in my case, to be truthful) - but it is still not a problem! Lack of libido and other symptoms should be alleviated with hormone replacement. I understand that we all experience things in our own way, but I firmly believe that a positive attitude will overcome many obstacles, or at least reduce the obstacle so it can be crawled over :-) . If anyone has to consider a hysterectomy, PLEASE (1) search the archives of this wonderful forum, or post a message and (2) Check out Alternatives to Hysterectomy, a new addition to this site. If you MUST have a hysterectomy the archives/posting will provide you with the info/support you need. Alternatives will give you more excellent & solid information. Sorry for the length of this post - I just feel so bad to think of the women who are suffering needlessly and are frightened of surgical outcomes. Surf this site and become enlightened. Be well everyone, Jean S.
