Yes. Irregualr cycles frequently have abnormal hormonal suport and thereby abnormal uterine linings proliferate. We normally use birth control pills to control this. The one thing to be aware of is 1% chance of amenorrhea (no period) for extended period of time after BCPs discontinued if you were irregualr prior to therapy.

Possible, but after 5 weeks, you might be getting anemic. At the least, you should get a blood count.
