Re: 40 WKS PG WITH NO PROGRESSFrom: Barbara (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 14 Jan 1998 18:58:32 -0600 (CST)
Dear Amanda, As the Mom of four grown children with three of the four in the I Don't Want To Come Out, catagory you have brought back many memories of those last extra days. Each one is like a week because we have planned the day and now it hasn't happened! Forty Weeks is the average, the Normal, The what Most people do,,, Just That! Now to you and your little one about to be born, he/she is not quite ready yet.. Maybe another week more or less and I think the big day will be here for you both. I don't beleive there is any problem except the baby isn't ready. Sometimes a little Pitocin works wonders for the slow ones. Don't panic it's Norna! I was induced with three of my babes and had a relatively easy birthing experience. Most ob's have a certain number of weeks that they wil "wait it out" and then set the time and have you go into the hospital. Usually two weeks past the 40 weks as after that time the baby has exhusted it's food supply and starts to loose weight. Hang in there and keep us posted on what happens. Barbara
