I am 40 wks pregnant and am not having any regular contractions (and yes, my date appears to be accurate, my fundal height is measuring a hefty 40). At my last prenatal apt yesterday my OB said that my cervix is only 80% effaced and had not started to dilate. He also said that a thin membrane was still covering the cervix and that this could be scar tissue from a LEEP procedure I had done almost 2 years ago. My OB has tried to strip the membranes twice and will try again tomorrow. What, if any, are my options? Will I be required to have a C-section? Will induction of labor (pitocin) do any good?
