HPVFrom: allison (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 10 Jan 1998 00:39:37 -0600 (CST)
Today, I was diagnosed with HPV--vaginal warts! I have several questions, and keep in mind that I did search this board and read all of the messages related to HPV. However, the answer I did not find the answer to is what to do about this predicament if you are bi-sexual. How can I protect female partners? I understand that this is a virus that I will probably have forever, either active or dorment. Can I infect someone when it is dorment? I understand that it is transferrable by oral sex; would the warts affect the person's mouth or genitals? And if they do affect the mouth, does that mean that one shouldn't put one's fingers in another's mouth after having touched the infected's sexual organs? Also, my boyfriend does not show any signs of the virus. I understand that this is common. How do we find out if he's got it, and if he does, but we can't see the warts, then how do you know when it's okay to have oral sex? I'm sorry if I've been graphic, but I need answers to specific questions that the general discussion ignores. Thank you.
