Reply: Tessler: "Re: depression and estrogen/ progesterone ortho tricyclin" I am 28 years old and have had light, brown spotting before every period for the last 8-12 months. I am not on the pill, am very regular, and have not experienced this before. It begins about 4-5 days before my period, continues for a few days, stops, and then my period "really" starts. I read that this might indicate luteal phase defect. I plan to have children in a few years, so I am quite concerned that this may be a sign of trouble (infertility, risk of miscarriage). I did tell my doctor about this, and she said it was absolutely nothing to worry about. But, I'm still concerned and thought I would bring it up here.
