Pregnant, elated and depressed togetherFrom: Anne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 4 Jan 1998 00:24:37 -0600 (CST)
Dear Drs., Hello! Thought I would write in and see if ya'll had any viewpoints on this. I am 18 weeks pregnant with our 2nd child. We wanted this very much but as with many I had forgotten what it was like the first time around. The first time thru I had a very difficult time. My daughter was pretty big, I'm pretty small, UTI's and preterm labor as well as 7 1/2 months of morning sickness. This time around I am still excited about our baby but the pregnancy is even rougher (I think) than the 1st time around. I have contractions (mostly painless) every hour, a headache EVERY morning, morning sickness with a painful hiatal hernia, and just plain abdominal and low back pain all the time. My Doc said a lot of it could be my c-section scar stretching. Well ANYWAY the depressing thing that is bothering me is that I feel like I won't be able to handle another pregnancy (nor will my dear hubby). We kinda wanted three kids but now I'm not so sure. Is there any hope for a normal pain-free pregnancy? I know that now is not really the time to hash this out but I don't want to "forget" how nasty this has been for the next time either. Can anything be done this time around? It has gotten to the point where I am not sure which is crappy everyday pain and which is pain that might really mean preterm labor again or a UTI. I can't tell anymore. Has anyone gotten relief during a rough pregnancy or been able to survive another one? any ideas? I feel ready to cry for the epidural already and I am not even half way done yet.Have any of ya'll Drs got any ideas on pain management other than my daily regimen of Tylenol? Thanks for any and all advice. PS. PG BRIGADE- don't get me wrong- I am still happy to be able to have a baby! Hopeful I didn't make anybody feel bad. :) Thanks Anne N.
