Hysterectomy Pre-Operative Consultation

Hello,

On 1/5/98 I have a surgery consultation appointment with my OBGYN (who I've seen twice and very briefly). She seems competent and Board Certified.

The reason for the surgery is profuse bleeding during menstruation w/huge clots, fibroids and a retroverted uterus causing major discomfort since the age of 10.

What I DO know is that she is going to attempt a vaginal procedure and leave in my ovaries.

I have a good attitude about the upcoming surgery but I am seeking advice on what type of questions to ask the doctor on Monday.

I am especially concerned with the amount of pain I will feel upon awakening from surgery.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,

Diane
