All the best in the New Year to everyone at the WH Forum

Hi All,

As this year comes to an end, I am very thankful for what this year has brought to me and my family. We lost our third baby just over a year ago but our family has healed TOGETHER. Our 5th pregnancy was achieved after only 2 months on clomid. Negative ACTH Stim Test ruled out late-onset adrenal hyperplasia. Negative 3 hr GTT's ruled out gestational diabetes. As my DH says "our people just grow big babies!".

Our latest ultrasound (yesterday at 28.4 weeks) showed that Katherine Marie is STILL a girl! She's estimated at 30.+ weeks and 3.2 lbs (in the 75th percentile). The scan showed no evidence of any problems (though we realize this is no guarantee) and she was sucking two of her fingers and we watched her open her eyes and look around - WAY COOL!!! (love my doc's new Toshiba ultrasound machine!)

In the New Year my wish for:

Barbara - to continue providing us with your *life experiences*. You've been there, done that (and wear the t-shirt so proudly) and we all gain so much from your personal stories. A very happy and healthy 1998 to you!!

Dr. Marchbein - you have become the attending physician on the WHF and for this we are all eternally grateful. May others from the doc's forum step over the wall and provide you more continuous backup. Your wife is a saint for tolerating all the time you spend with your cyber-patients. Give her a BIG HUG from all of us!!

Dr. Shanahan - your personal experience with miscarriages have helped so many on this forum. It is a traumatic and emotional event for any woman and your insight gives other women valuable information and hope for the future. The advice you give regarding natural remedies is indeed a treat. It is not easy for us (patients) to find docs like you who are interested in these alternative therapies. I hope you and your hubby have a positive hcg test soon and a healthy pregnancy with a wonderful outcome :)

To Dr. Hill - the articles you post for the WHF are so educational. I have learned so much and eagerly await the next edition. Your caring manner is evident in all your responses on the forum. Your *real life* patients are very lucky to have you!

Our physicians across the water, Drs. Cristalli and Kompanietz(sp?) - I find the advice you give to be very valuable. Do you have any idea how much an overseas second opinion would cost??!! We are blessed to have your input on the forum. It is reassuring to know that standard of care in the US is the same in other countries.

To the PG Brigade - may this year bring positive HPT's and healthy pregnancies.

To those already pregnant (especially including our newest member, Carolyn :)) - the healthiest and happiest pregnancies to you all. May your labors be short (I would add PAINLESS - but I think that may be asking too much!) and your babies be healthy! We need to name our group - since those attempting pregnancy are the PG Brigade. Any ideas??

The women who have had recent hysterectomies - your upbeat personal stories have changed my view on the subject. I have been doing a lot of reading this year and some of it had to do with "unnecessary gynecological surgeries". I was almost convinced that hysterectomies were *bad things* that were done mostly for profit. Your recent descriptions of reasons for the surgery and the improved quality of life post-surgery has made me take a second look. In the future, if I ever face the need for a hysterectomy, I have a more rounded base of information to make an informed decision.

To everyone else on the forum may you and yours have a safe, happy, healthy and prosperous 1998.

Love,

Mary
