wildly irregular cycles, trying to conceive and patience ...From: Brienne (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Dec 1997 16:50:32 -0600 (CST)
I love this forum and appreciate the advice and information relayed. I am 30 years old, normal weight, non-smoker, healthy, yada yada yada. I stopped taking Ortho Novum-777 in June after being on for about 15 years and am trying to conceive. My cycles are all over the place and the three periods I have had (late Aug, late Sept, mid-Nov) have been nothing much more than very scant staining of old-looking blood - I don't remember whether or not I was very regular before the pill, but my cycle is just getting longer (29, 42, day 50 and still going this time!). My doctor suggested charting BBT which I have been doing and I appear to ovulate but there's some question there since my luteal phases seem to be all over the map too and that seems wrong (12 to 27 days between a clear thermal shift and menses?). The crux of the question (after all that babbling and a hearty round of applause to anyone who gets this far) is that my doctor and his staff are very dismissive about my concerns with this irregularity, unclear timing of ovulation and the relative absence of my periods and I'm wondering whether it's time for someone to pay some attention to me or not. They keep telling me to be patient, but I sort of feel like six months is patient enough and it's time to start checking out what is happening. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks very much!
