Hi Tia -

I nursed both of my children until they were a year old. I can relate to exactly what you are talking about. All I can say is, hang in there!

I think I produced enough milk to feed a small country. My mother (in her good Irish humor) likened me to a Jersey cow! She's a retired nurse (peds were her specialty) and she once actually wanted me to show one of her nurse friends how quickly I could fill a bottle with milk without pumping. All I had to do was think of a sad story or something sentimental and on went the faucet - full force - LOL. (And no, I didn't demonstrate. Honestly, you medical folks sometimes - just kidding.)

Anyway, I still produced plenty of milk for several months after stopping. My kids prolonged the process a little. They would look at me with those sad eyes wanting to nurse. I looked right back at them with a full set of teeth and held firm (2-3 little bites were all it took for me.)

My doctor kept reassuring me that it was supply and demand. As long as I didn't give into the demand, my body would finally end the supply. It worked.

Good luck! Hang in there.

Holly
