GBS DeathFrom: Nancy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Dec 1997 13:54:14 -0600 (CST)
My first child was born this past year and only lived 2 days because of complications from group b strep. I was 41 weeks pregnant and had a bout of false labor one week earlier. When I went into labor for real I already had a fever from the infection. It seemed to have gotten to her without the water breaking. My doctor says it would be ok to try to get pregnant again and he would watch me like a hawk and has an antibiotic plan and a c-section planned on my 38th week. I did have antibiotic treatment in my last labor and the more I have found out about GBS the more I think the doctors acted correctly in their judgement of my last case. I was wondering if anybody has an opinion on the chances of a good outcome of another pregnancy for me. My baby was born in September and I am now getting ready to try again. I am working closely with my doctor and know that these will only be opinions and not take it as medical fact in my personal case. Thank you for your time. Nancy....
