BP concerns...From: Carolyn (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Dec 1997 08:51:29 -0600 (CST)
Happy Holidays Everyone! Mine was a fairly er, uh, eventful one to say the least. Christmas Eve, I found out my mom (68) has been suffering from TIAs for about 2 weeks. Santa showed up a day late (seemed fitting) with a positive on an HPT. Yesterday, I went in for a confirmation (it was positive...YIPEE!) and my BP was at...154/88...YIPES! Ok, I'm pretty sure that caffeine is the big trigger for me,(I've cut it out before appts before and it usually hovers around 120/75-80...but I am a not-so-nice person) but I am unable to function without ANY coffee in the morning. I had been having 2-16 oz cups each morning and am trying to cut down to one or less. Unfortunately, my mom's situation coupled with this pregnancy following a miscarriage in Sept, I'm still gonna have ALOT of worries. Mom is being cared for (and this was the kick in the pants for her to quit smoking...Thank God!), but my immediate worry is my pregnancy. Now, here is my question. Would it be unreasonable to ask for an early US, like at 7 weeks, to see if there is a heartbeat? With the miscarriage, I just went along each appt, even when they couldn't find it with the doppler, because it was too early. Having been through that (and again probably not finding the heartbeat) will only increase my anxiety. So, it is unreasonable? Thanks. Carolyn
