Can Anyone Help, pls?From: Kimberly (anonymous@obgyn.net)Tue, 30 Dec 1997 05:02:42 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I am hoping someone can please help me with this one, as my OB/Gyns are not sure what this is yet either. (I am the same one with the blue discharge, BTW.) For the past few months my periods have been getting earlier, heavier, and lasting longer. I usually have some premenstrual cramps, am ok for a few days while it gets started...then it slows down and the cramps get bad again, then it starts up again for a few more days. I also have PMS like symptoms and heavy bleeding at midcycle as well and lots of cramping...so its like I am having two periods per months, actually. But this month, something very strange has been happening...it was early as usual, but this time the flow was only heavy the first day, and now has been very slow and producing a lot of cramping...but the worst part is I seem to be having hot flashes! Ever since it started this month,I have been uncomfortably warm, then several times an hour I will have this persistent hot feeling wash over me. It is not just annoying, but is making me feel ill and grouchy, and is causing my family to have to walk around with mittens and coats on. My temp is 99.4 which is a bit high for me (97.3-.5), but I have no other flu-like symptoms...no aches, bowel disturbance, head or sinus congestion, or anything...just moderate to severe cramps and repeatedly feeling hot. I am not having any allergy-like symptoms, not unusually tense or stressed, and have not eaten anything strange recently...and since it has only been happening since the start of my period, I imagine it must be due to that...but what is it?? (My thyroid is fine, BTW.) I have tried icepacks and cold showers which help periodically...but at times I feel so hot that I have gone out in the night in sleeveless shirts and shorts and just laid in the snow...and still felt warm! It * really* perplexes me, cuz I am usually on the cold side and bundle up every time I go out...but I just cant stand that overheated feeling. In the house I have turned the heat way down and kept a few windows open, and stayed in summer clothing...and I cant even go shopping cuz I cant tolerate being in those store %
