Re: Have Crohn'sFrom: Amy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 Dec 1997 08:57:48 -0600 (CST)
I've had Crohn's since I was 9, and got pregnant with my son when I was 23. My pregnancy was fairly uneventful, and, as Dr. Marchbein said, my Crohn's was actually better than ever! I felt wonderful the whole pregnancy. I made sure that my OB/GYN and Gastroenterologist were in agreement about my treatment, and as far as I know, they had phone conversations about how to manage my disease and pregnancy. Basically, we all agreed that it would be safest if I continued to take my medication (I was on Asacol at the time) in order to prevent a flare up. We all felt that since Asacol works mostly in the large intestine, that it would minimize any risks to the baby. Everything worked out just fine, and I now have a 3 year old son! Good luck to you!
