Post Hysterectomy QuestionFrom: Amber (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 15 Dec 1997 14:30:42 -0600 (CST)
Hi everyone, I'm back & better than ever!! I am 31 yrs old & had a total abdominal hysterectomy on Dec 3rd. As I stated about a week & a half ago, I'm am very surprised with my recovery (happily surprised) I am on the estrogen patch, pre-natal vitamins, motrin (2400 mg a day) and Ferrous Fum (not sure what that is for, but I'm taking it)... The only sign of menopause I have had (after I got my patches) is that I had 1 hot flash last week. My question today is in reference to bowel movements. I understand that is has only been 12 days since my surgery, but I kind of expected the pain when I have a bowel movement to decrease, but I am still in tears every time I go. They are not hard, actually very soft (but not diarrhea), I don't know how to decrease the pain, or if I will just have to wait it out until my body has more time to recover. Any suggestions? I do not want something that will give me the runs as that will only add to the problem. My first follow up appointment is this Thurs, but I would like some help as soon as possible. Thanking you in advance........ Amber
