I too, had severe pain (lower abdomen) and was rushed to the ER (last Sept). (I'm 35 and have 2 teens) They thought it was appendictis but the pain was too low. The pain was excruciating!! I didn't care what they had to do -I just wanted something to get rid of it. I was given 2 shots of demerol and sent home. A few days later an ultrasound (external) and it really hurt. They couldn't find anything abnormal but I knew there was. I went to see an GYN (month later) and he too seemed to brush it off like it was nothing. I already saw 2 dr.s and a surgeon (who did a lap. and found nothing abnormal- later I found out he was a gen. surgeon and didn't even look properly at my ovaries and uterus), and none of them seem to take this very seriously. They suggested an obstructed bowel but I explained that the pain I felt was similiar to menstrual cramps but 100 times worse. I too, feel that the pain will return because I have not felt right since then. I have pains, cramps, swollen abdomen, dizzy spells, among other problems. Now I'm getting more worried because I've started to bleed between my periods. At my 2nd visit I tried to convince him that I knew something was wrong, I wasn't dreaming all this up, and that I had missed a lot of work. He gave me BC pills and asked me to come back in 3 months and if that didn't help to consider a hysterectomy!. Another problem - my family doc. took me off BC pills 5 years ago due to high blood pressure. The GYN thought a lower dosage would be ok but I'm afraid to take them. I can't go to a better GYN because he's supposed to be the BEST in my area. I walked out of his office with such an empty feeling. I feel that no one is taking me seriously. Why would I make all this up? With 2 kids and 2 parttime jobs, I really don't have time for this! When you mentioned your concern of cancer it really hit me because I too have that fear. Both my parents, 3 grandparents, 3 uncles, and an aunt all had cancer and it really scares me. I hope I'm not sounding like a lunatic but, just like you, I am really concerned and wanting answers. I wish you all the best and hope you can find a decent doctor who can help you out. Please let me know how things are working out and how your feeling.
