Re: Pregnant uterus was probed looking for IUDFrom: Ana (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 5 Dec 1997 20:55:24 -0600 (CST)
I understand "wandering" IUD will probably not cause problem during my pregnancy, so the best thing will be to wait and see. When I first went to my Gynecologist I told him my period was three days late and I couldn't reach my IUD strings. After examining me he said that my cervix didn't show signs of pregnancy and since he couldn't see the strings either he would try to reach them within the uterus with a metal instrument with a jagged end. After trying that unsuccesfully he suggested having a sonogram, which didn't uncover the IUD, but did uncover the 3 week embryo. I later had very slight amount of bleeding. What effects can that probing within the uterus have other than having had provoked a miscarriage? Can there be any kind of poisoning or infection? Could it cause malformations in the baby? Thank you
