Should I rush to get mammogram done?From: Esther (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 27 Nov 1997 13:17:23 -0600 (CST)
Yesterday I went to the doctor's because of breast pain starting a few weeks ago. The pain is only off and on thoughout the day, and more uncomfortable than painful. I now have an appointment to see a specialist in two weeks, and if necessary he will order a mammogram shortly after that. However, I would be able to get a mammogram earlier through my family doctor if I wanted to. The time difference in getting it done earlier vs. later would be perhaps a week or two, and I'm wondering if this time frame makes a difference, ie. if on the outside chance it is something serious, would this week or two of delay hinder treatment? I'm 32 yrs old, in good health, no history of breast or any other serious problems. I do have rather lumpy bumpy breasts and the doctor suspects it's some fibroitis (sp?) Thank you.
