Adenomyosis is kinda like endometriosis in that the uterine lining tissue penetrates into the wall of the uterus. Women with adenomyois often have a boggy feeling uterus and have painful, heavy periods. Sometimes birth control pills or depo-provera are used for treatment; sometimes surgery like an endometrial ablation or a hysterectomy are chosen -- it all depends on the individual circumstances. Talk to your doctor about what this means for you.
