abdominal pain after hysterectomyFrom: Talia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 20 Nov 1997 20:39:14 -0600 (CST)
Hi, I had an abdominal hysterectomy for a large fibroid on Sept 3rd, with my left ovary and tube also removed due to cysts. My cervix was left in tact.. The incision was made from my pubic bone to my xyphoid due to the size of the tumor. Since a few day after surgery I have had constant pain and discomfort on my right side, about 3 inches above the naval and an inch over from the incision. (the incision in just to the right of my naval). I wear an abdominal support with an extra pad over this spot as the pressure relieves the pain. Over the counter pain meds do nothing to help. It is extremely tender when I try to lay flat or on my right side. Laying on my stomach is not possible at all. I mentioned this to my doctor at my 2,4 and 6 week checkups, but was told that due to the size of the tumor and the displacement of my anatomy, my organs need to go back into normal positioning , therefore I need to be patient. It is now over eleven weeks, but this problem had not subsided at all. I'm scheduled to meet with my doctor again next week. Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
