Abnormal bleeding: Now I'm starting to worryFrom: Carol (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 17 Nov 1997 09:04:35 -0600 (CST)
I'm 41 years old, with regular 28-day cycles and signs of ovulation around day 14. Usually spot (brown, scant) for a few days prior to period. For the last two cycles, I've been having brown spotting around day 9. Never had this before, read up about it and asked you all, realized it wasn't something to worry about. Then, last cycle, I had a whole lot of spotting prior to my period: from day 19 onwards. Different type of spotting from "the usual:" this time it was bright red streaks. The spotting was finally followed by a heavy period. Still not too worried. This cycle, I had another bright red streak on day 7, about an hour and a half after intercourse. Pink cervical mucus the next day. Ok, now I'm worried. My doctor's nurse says to wait for three months and see what happens before beginning the laborious procedure of trying to set up a doctor's appointment. Does that seem like a good strategy to you? Is this bleeding a cause for concern? If not, what would make it a cause for concern? Thanks for your time. Carol.
