Connie - When I had my laparoscopy, I had a fair bit of "shoulder" pain because of this gas (I jokingly asked my MD what the heck he did when I was out, play jumprope?) - but when I had my hysterectomy (and it was a 3-1/2 hour surgery), I had no discomfort at all in that area, just abdominally.
