2nd opinion questions for fibroidsFrom: K. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 15 Nov 1997 15:39:17 -0600 (CST)
Due to heavy bleeding and pain for 5 fibroids 2cm. or less, my Dr. put me on depo-provera to stop bleeding. This made matters worse and he did a diagnostic lap. He said that I have fibroids on the inside, outside and within the uterus wall and that to try to remove them would be dangerous. He scheduled me for a vaginal hysterectomy before we even discussed this. He said that I would be home having dinner that night and could return to work the next week if I felt like it. I have never had the opportunity to have children and he probably thinks that because I am in my 30's that I never will. I hope this not so. I will be going to a teaching hospital in a major city for a 2nd opinion in a few weeks. What should I bring with me? What are the important questions to ask? Do you think I can find another way to stop the pain and bleeding without risking my life? I look forward to your thoughts within the next few weeks.. Sincerely, Kay
