ovarian cystsFrom: marie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 15 Nov 1997 08:33:38 -0600 (CST)
Since May'97, I have had episodes of severe pain in my right ovary that last for about 40 minutes. My doctor originally termed my condition as "Middle Shmerz" without even examining me and perscribed the pill. I have been on the pill for a little more than 3 months now and the pain continues to occur. A pelvic sonogram indicated a right complex ovarian cyst about 4cm and they thought it was possibly a dermoid. I then went for a CAT scan. Upon receiving the results of the CAT scan, my doctor said that it wasn't likely a dermoid, but possibly follicular and they wanted me to be reevaluated after 2 menstral cycles. The day after my first menstral cycle ended, I awoke early in the A.M. with severe pain again. Because this last episode occured immediately after my period, it makes me wonder about it being a follicular cyst. I am concerned. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
