Surgery on Thursday (LEEP) and possible pregnancyFrom: Mrs. (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 3 Nov 1997 16:54:53 -0600 (CST)
Hello, I'm scheduled to have a LEEP performed on Thursday for treatment of moderate dysplasia. Although I'm currently taking birth control pills (Alesse-28), I think that I may possibly be pregnant. I started my second pill pak on 10-26-97, and have so far taken them correctly. The problem lies in the first month I started my pill pak...there were several times during that month that I forgot to take my pills (It's been a LONG time since I've taken birth control pills...still getting back into the "groove" of taking them) I missed 2 pills one week and took 3 pills at one time on the third day, and then the following week I missed a pill and doubled up the following day....however, I did this twice in that week. My husband and I had "relations" on the 10th day of my cycle for this month, and since we've used the withdrawal method for so long, I assumed we would still use that method for at least another month, so I could be sure the pills were working correctly, due to the fact that I had messed up so badly during my first month on the pill. However, he had other ideas! I am still taking my pills, but I'm wondering if I should cease taking my pills until I know for sure. Also, can I still have the procedure performed, since if I am pregnant, I would only be about a week into this pregnancy? Is there any way for the doctor to know if I'm pregnant at this very early stage? I'm merely basing my assumptions of this pregnancy on pure woman's intuition....I'm not having any symptoms of pregnancy, except very sore nipples, (which just started today), but I'm not really certain that you can have symptoms of pregnancy this early anyway. Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated. Sorry I got so long winded, I realize your time is very valuable and I thank you in advance if you managed to make it to the end of this post!!
