Should I have a Hysterectomy?From: Donna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 30 Oct 1997 13:04:30 -0600 (CST)
This is my second letter. I am 31 yrs. old and my OBGYN has recommended a hyst. I have two children and my husband had a vasectomy after my daughter was born 4 yrs. ago. I am not worried about conceiving, but am concerned about this drastic desicion by my doctor. I have a menstral cycle about every 15 days sometimes 19 days apart. They start out heavy with large clots that last for about 3 days then it slows down and ends on the 7th day, sometimes last 9 days. I have tried birth control pills, Depo-provera, provera and I am now taking Premarin 1.25mg to help with pms. My doctor said hyst. was my last resort. Is my problem severe enough for a hysterectomy? I have read about several women that have a lot of other tests done. Why won't my doctor do any of those tests? She just says I am not ovulating. Could their be something else wrong with me? Please any advise would be helpful. This is the 3rd OBGYN I have been to. The rest of the doctors just looked at me like I was crazy. Thanks to anyone that can help me. My surgery is sch. for Nov. 18th. Thank you Donna
