>> Dr. Marchbein... I couldn't resist looking in my online drug references (a saw a challenge there! <G>) and did find some info on Zyban. It seems that Wellbutrin and Zyban are the same basic drug but that Zyban is a sustained-release oral form. Anyway...here's an excerpt from the internet site: "Bupropion is used to treat major depression. It was originally approved by the FDA in December 1985 but subsequently removed from marketing due to concern over drug-induced seizures. It was reintroduced in July 1989 as an antidepressant. The sustained-release oral dosage form, Zyban™, was recommended for approval for the management of smoking cessation on December 12, 1996 and final approval was granted May 14, 1997. Bupropion is currently undergoing investigation for use in combination with nicotine patches for treating the symptoms of smoking cessation." Hope this helps! BTW, Dr. Marchbein...I'll give you this URL if share the PDR URL! :-) (Also a medical transcriptionist so it could come in handy!) Darcy Johnson Co-Moderator, Women's Health Forum
