I posted this once before, but got no response, and don't know if it got through. In my 20th week of pregnancy, my water broke. After a week, the perinatologist recommended inducing labor, since I was never able to get retain enough fluid to maintain the pregnancy. My OBGYN and the perinatologist found nothing to tell why this occcurred. The best guess is that a mild bladder infection I developed caused this, or "Just one of those things." The pathology report showed no anamolies with the baby or the placenta. Since I was 38 at the time of my pregnancy, I had an amnio at 16 weeks, with no spotting or leaking resulting. In the 2 months since I lost the baby, I have turned 39. I am fairly certain I want an amnio, but my Doctor, who was not all that gung ho about the first one, is against it. Other women I know with the same or similar situation have been told they should have the amnio. (The irony here is that they don't want it--perhaps we just need to switch doctors!) My question is: Does anyone have any information on contradindications of having an amnio in a pregnancy following a pregnancy loss to Preterm Premature Rupture Of Membranes? Are there studies done with statistics about this? Any information about this would be helpful Thank you Dee
