Premature rupture of membranes...subsequent pregnancies!!

My 4th child was born at 36 weeks after p.r.o.m. at 33 weeks. I was tested for every conceivable thing, but nothing showed up. I had to stay in hospital and eventually had a normal vaginal delivery without complication.

My son weighed close to 7lb but would not suck..he was also found to have slight temp, and so was started on iv antibiotics. The cultures they did on him were negative, except for one from behind his ear that eventually showed strep mitis..what is this?

I am now 24 wks with 5th baby...very frightened of the same thing happening again...would anyone know of any statistics around this. Also, I am very concerned about the use of antibiotics for the baby. My son had many many problems in the first year of life...I had to abandon breast feeding because of his poor suck and constant vomiting and diarrhoea...he was found to be intolerant to lactose, and had to have special formula..He also had constant thrush, which was profoundly difficult to treat..this began while he was still in hospital With my experience from his birth, I would be tempted to take the baby home and do my best without the hospital, because it was very upsetting and traumatic experience last time.

Any advice gratefully accepted
