What purpose does it serve? Hi Holly, I was in your position up until today. I also *flunked* my 1 hour glucose screen last Tuesday. Today I had my 3 hour test. Luckily my base, 1 hour, 2 hour levels were normal so I didn't have to stay the final hour. Below I have an address for a site from the National Institutes of Health on Diabetes and Digestive Diseases. There is a very informative section on gestational diabetes. It includes instructions for changing your diet before the 3 hour glucose tolerance test. http://www.niddk.nih.gov/GestationalDiabetes/GD1.html Good luck with your upcoming test. Keep us informed with the results.
