painful penetrationFrom: Anissa (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 29 Sep 1997 21:20:30 -0500 (CDT)
Like many of the other women, my question concerns painful intercourse. I've been married for 4 years and my husbandwas my first sex partner. We had to work our way up to penetration the first time and neither of us noticed any blood to show that the hymen was torn. The first two years, sex was often, but the initial penetration always had to be done slowly or I would have intense burning. As expected things slowed and illness caused periods of not much at all. Now no matter how much lubricant or foreplay or arousal level, I feel like I'm ripping in two!!!! Sex was very satisfying and it is crucial to our marriage to have this area of our marriage healthy. My OB/GYN has said that everything appears to be normal. I the presence of risidual hymen tissue easily recognized? Am I Shrinking?? I am a petite 5' 2'' and have a small pelvic girdle region and my husband 6'. Are there any treatments or corrective measures I or my OB/GYN can take to remedy this painful situation. Can 4 years of oral birth control be causing this? This is very important in my marriage, so any help would be greatly appreciated.
