a silly but serious question

What are your opinions on bras?!?! Should a woman wear one to bed or what is the max # of hours per day that one should be worn? I was tired last night and didn't feel much like changing so I went to bed wearing an underwire, among other things ; ). This morning my breasts hurt after I got up and (finally!) took it off. It felt like I had strained myself. I've read that frequently wearing a bra at night can be a cause of breast cancer, too. I hate the feeling of skin-to-skin there so I often will wear at least something with minimal support. What do you think? Is this really harmful in one way or another?
