Sperm questionFrom: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 23 Sep 1997 09:52:47 -0400 (EDT)
Please ask your doc/urologist if the test was done with "strict morphology" or Kruger criteria. Both are the same---and I've been told they represent the highest level of testing that can be done. My husband had several mildly abnormal tests over the years in "regular" labs, but no one was too concerned because we had conceived a child. Eventually we did IVF/ICSI at a clinic that does strict morphology (St. Barnabas, Livingston, NJ). We were mortified to find that we had 0% normal sperm. BTW, with strict morphology, they consider 15% normal to be Superman---just because so many sperm are abnormal. We did conceive, but miscarried... To head off the question of whether 0% normal was a fluke reading...it rose to 2% normal 6 months later. <<Ouch>> Good luck, Luanne
