Re: Low blood sugar and large baby?From: AnnMarie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 13 Sep 1997 21:08:01 +0000
When I was preg with my daughter, I worked in a hospital. When I did glucose checks on my patients, I would sometimes do myself too. It started mostly out of curiosity. BTW, I am not a doctor; I used to work in the nursing area. I noticed that I often times would have low blood sugar readings. The lowest I remember was in the 40's. I would start having signs below 70. I'd have some OJ and be on my way. Anyways, my baby was born on her due date at a "normal" size of 7lbs 4 oz and 19 1/2 inches. That was my experience. I know being pregnant and having a blood sugar problem can be worrisome. For me it was and still is because there is diabetes in the family. I can't tell you if I still have this problem, but doubt it. Please talk to your doctor about your concerns. He/She may be able to help you. I admit, I was afraid to, even when my sugar was so low that one time. I practice what I preach to others better now! I have in fact, even admitted my guilt about the low blood sugar readings to my Ob/Gyn. AnnMarie
