Re: abnormal periods after childbirth

Hi Andrea!

This seems to be a very normal occurrence after pregnancy. This topic was discussed not too long ago and it seems we've all been through the same thing. It takes months for your body to readjust! I think what you're going through is perfectly normal at this point. I got my first period back in December and it wasn't until just a month or two ago that my cycles were really back to their "pre-pregnancy" state. So, hang in there! As a disclaimer...I'm sure everyone responds to the hormonal changes different, so this timeline isn't set in stone! :-)

You may want to do a search through the forum archives to see what other answers were posted in response to the prior question we had on this.

Best wishes,

<< Before I got pregnant with my son, I had normal regular periods. They came every 29 days and last 5 to 6 days. Since giving birth this past Feb, and my periods returning in April, my periods have not been normal. They usually come every 28 days, but I spot for a day before and then for up to a week after I should be done. Is there anything I can do to regulate my cycle besides going on the pill? I had cryosurgery for moderate dysplasia in May and I know that the pill makes a women more succeptable to cervical cancer so I'd rather not risk it since I already have problems in that area. What could be causing this? Are my hormones off? Is this normal after having a baby? Would appreciate any advice. Thank you.
