Kate, based upon chronic cervicitis and cervical polyps, I'm not sure why you're having a D&C and hysteroscopy. That's usually for a problem inside the uterus, not the cervix.

Infections, irritations, inflammations, IUDs, intercourse, no reason at all. Take your pick. It's not a specific answer because, unfortunately, there isn't one.

If cervicitis is seen only on the pap we usually treat with a broad spectrum vaginal antibiotic such as Metronidazole Vaginal or Cleocin Vaginal. If it is an easily seen infection, these may also work but other antibiotics may also be necessary.

Still like to know why you need a D&C and hysteroscopy.
