Hi Lisa -

Congratulations! I felt the same way you do with my first pregnancy. I was so excited, but when I got to the doctor for my first visit, I was so nervous. It wasn't like I could turn around and skip it. I was pregnant and needed prenatal care - not to mention that my husband drove and had a firm krip on the car keys ;-) Still, I had that "now you've done it - there's no turning back" feeling!

The first thing I did was TELL the doctor that I was scared to death. It was the best thing I could have done. For me, the first visit was just as Dr. Klein described. The doctor took lots of time before the exam to let me ask all the questions I wanted. Once I had a good understanding of what to expect during the nine months - I was able to relax and can truly say that I enjoyed my pregnancies and looked forward to those tummy checks. I don't think anyone loves to have an internal - but you get through because you know it is important to you, the baby . . . and it only takes a few minutes.

Patient/Doctor communication is key. I think if you have that in place, you'll do fine. Good luck!

Holly
