Ultra sound resultsFrom: AnnaMarie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 15 Aug 1997 07:21:37 -0500 (CDT)
Hi, I just got the results of my ultrasound and I am a little confused. Background, I am 50 years old, and have been in perimeno for at least 2 years, I take no estrogen but I take natural progesterone. I have no hot flashes and the rest of the peri symptoms are controlled well, as long as I take the natual progesterone for 12 days a month. I have always been a heavy bleeder, and some months I spot after my period on and off until the 13 or 14th day of my cycle. Hence the reason for the doc ordering an ultrasound. Anyway, the ultrasound showed some small fibroids, which we knew were there, Then the report tells about the ovaries. It said, (right side) "... No masses or cysts were noted. A small follicle was noted measuring 1.0 cm in diameter. (left side) "No masses were identified. A prominent follicle with debris was noted measuring 2cm x 1.8 cm." OK, then the report concludes saying everything was normal. Great. So my doc calls me and says, "Oh, those follicles on your ovaries are normal due to OVULATION, especially when they have debris. See, I told you that you still ovulate." I don't really believe that I still ovulate regularly. What are these follicles on my ovaries? If I still ovulate, why do I have peri-meno symptoms? Thanks AnnaMarie ahaden@misonline.com
