VBAC Risks and Prior Polyhydramnios

At my first prenatal visit today(6.4 weeks), my Dr. and I discussed VBAC. My prior C/S was over 10 years ago for CPD (11+ lb baby) with a low transverse incision.

I realize the risk of uterine rupture/scar dehiscence is generally quite low but I am wondering if the complications of my pregnancy last year increase the risk for me. My pregnancy ended at 28.4 weeks. At 26 weeks my uterus was full term size due to polyhydramnios (among many other problems). After 5 hours of labor and 9 minutes of pushing, I vaginally delivered my son.

My questions are (and naturally I thought of this after my appointment this morning!): Did the rapid expansion of my uterus during the last pregnancy increase the VBAC risk for this pregnancy? Would that have weakened the scar or uterus? Are there any ways to lessen the risks like trying vertical labor/delivery positions?

Since my 4 past pregnancy/labor/delivery experiences have been LESS than pleasant or even satisfactory, I want to do everything I possibly can to make this one better.

I know with my history I am getting way ahead of myself. I need to make sure this baby is not affected, which we should find out in the next 6 weeks. I have been doing so much reading about the different options in childbirth and have found several items that may make for a more personally satisfying experience. I would rather find out this early in the game if I am hoping for an unrealistic experience. Granted, I know that labors and deliveries don't often go as planned (I am proof of that) but I would prefer to know *my* chances now and then make alternate plans.

Thank you for any input.
