Frequent bleedingFrom: Vivian (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 28 Jul 1997 10:27:59 -0500 (CDT)
Since June 16, I have had light to very heavy bleeding every day, but 5 days (I took Provera 6/25-7/5; bleeding stopped for 4 days and then on July 17 I had no spotting or bleeding. In addition, I have had mild to severe cramps (sharp pains and cramp like pains) in my lower abdomen. I had a laporotomy on May 19. the Dr. diagnosed mild endometriosis and scar tissue and adhesions (which he believes was causing the bad pains before.) He also did a D&C for the irregular bleeding. The problem is as bad (with the bleeding being worse) now. He believes that the next step would be a hysterectomy. I visited another Dr. for a second opinion. He has recommended Lupron Depot, to begin next month. I called him this morning because I have had very heavy bleeding since Saturday and BAD cramps. The new Dr. prescribed 5mg. Provera twice a day for five days and to call him if the pain does not improve by tomorrow (Vicodin has not been helping last night and today - before it had) for another prescription. Now the bleeding seems to be a little heavier * soaked through a super ab. tampon in less than a half hr.* I also had some very large clots (Bigger than a half dollar.) I am sorry this is long but I wanted to give as much info as possible. I am very concerned. I have lost over 20lbs. in the last two months as a result of these problems. I am also anemic. I guess my question is what can I expect from the provera now and how will the Lupron help. I have also read some very neg. things about lupron which worry me. Also, could there be something else causing this bleeding. (Is it possible that this is just one of those things that I have to deal with, in other words it is not serious and nothing can be done.) Thank You for your time!!!
