? about natural fibroid passage

I have been experiencing continuous mild bleeding between heavier 'normal' mestral flows for about three months. Before that my period became irregular with little bleeding and some discoloration. On the second day of my current period I passed what I believe is a fibroid. It was approximately 4cm and was accompanied by large, thick, jelly-like clots. The bleeding dissipated afterwards. This was not painful at the time - but the previous night I had sharp pains that usually accompany ovulation. Afterwards there was some achiness from the vaginal area. My last exam was just over 2 years ago. My question - is it unusual for someone to naturally pass a fibroid? Should I be rushing off to the nearest gynecologist? I'm hoping the answer is'no' to both. Thanks!
