I'm not a reproductive endocrinologist (Oh, Dr Lovely, jump in any time), but here goes: IVF = InVitro Fertilization. Eggs (either yours or a donors) and sperm (either your husband's or a donors) are incubated together outside the body. Hopefully, fertilization occurs and the little embryo begins to grow. When it is (or they are) at the 4-10 cell stage, it/they is/are transferred into your uterus. GIFT =Gamete IntraFallopian Transfer. Eggs and sperms are drawn into catheter which is guided into the fallopian tube via laparoscopy. The eggs and sperm are squirted into the tube and then left to do their thing. Obviously tubes(or at least *a* tube) need to be open for this. ZIFT = Zygote IntraFallopian Transfer. Like a cross between GIFT & IVF. The eggs are fertilized and incubated outside the body and then the zygote (the result of fertilization) is transferred into the fallopian tube. I don't know about price differences. They're all expensive. I hope Dr Lovely, our resident RE, will respond and answer the rest of your questions. Good luck.
