Abnormal Bleeding - Still!

I have to thank Dr. Marchbien for the helpful response from the 16th (I've been out of the office since then and only was able to read it today)and ask a couple more questions.

In regards to the choices you posted - 1) Do nothing if not anemic - I am not yet, but my gyn thinks I will become if I continue to have these very heavy periods combined with bleeding during the rest of my cycle. 2) Conitnue oral contraceptives and wait for amelioration of the bleeding - I have been on them for several years now, and am bleeding more not less during each cycle. 3) use progesterone orally during 2nd half of month - maybe that would help, I will ask my gyn about it, because this month I started bleeding again on day 12 of my pills which is longer than I had gone the last 2 months when I only had 3 or 4 days with no bleeding. 4) What is endometrial ablation?? Sounds better than the H word!!

Besides the excessive bleeding itself which is very worrisome since no body seems to know WHY this occurs, the inconvenience of never knowing when it will happen, never being able to go without tampons and pads on and plenty with me, and having the potential of great embarrassment at business meetings, etc., I am worried that this may mean something else is wrong like ovarian cancer - is this a possibility and how would one check?

Thank you, Elizabeth Schied
