Question about my Grandma...From: anonymous@obgyn.netTue, 22 Jul 1997 17:18:37 -0400 (EDT)
Hello...I'm so glad this forum is available! I have a few questions about some things my 89 year old Grandma has been experiencing. I'll try to give you a little bit of a history on her...as much as I know. She had 7 children, (2 who died..one at 2 y/o and another at 12 y/o) After each but one of the deliveries she needed a D&C due to severe hemorrhaging. She's considered a 'bleeder' and needed transfusions following these surgeries and others thoughout the years. About 2 months ago (May '97) she started spotting---enough to change a pad 2 times a day. (she said 'I never thought I'd be doing this again at 89!!!' ;-) It isn't bright red, but more like old blood. She saw her GYN who said she should have a D&C, which was done today. When the surgery was finished, the GYN came to tell my uncle (who took her to the hospital and didn't ask ANY questions) that her uterus was closed....something that he's only ever seen a few times. He felt for any masses, which he found none. What would make the uterus close up? Where would the blood be coming from? Sorry I didn't have any more information to give you...I'm going on what my uncle told my mother. Thanks in advance! Sherri Schreckengost Eastern Pennsylvania
