I understand these are common symptoms of It is true that a beta hCG test is not measuring progesterone, but there is also a chance of a cross-reaction with the hCG that may give a false positive. When I first starting taking the supplements, I began later in the cycle than recommmended and my first hCG test had a value of 24 mIU/ml. Anything over 5 is considered positive, but very low. Over 25 begins to detect a viable pregnancy. I repeated the test twice more, again with low positive results. A true pregnancy would have shown increasing numbers and this did not. WRT, progesterone preventing your period. It will most likely delay your period by several days (a week or more perhaps), but unless you are taking a huge dose, it shouldn't stop it altogether. I mistakenly thought this myself...and was shocked to find out differently! Contact me if you have any more questions. I'm basically a guinea pig taking this stuff, but I've been doing it for a couple of months, so I might be able to help.
